FOR WILDLIFE. FOR PEOPLE. FOREVER. Five simple words, yet they perfectly capture the scope of what we do. For over 30 years, you have made it possible for Desert Foothills Land Trust to protect the wildlife and unique habitats of the Sonoran Desert, provide opportunities for people to learn and find their own connection to nature, and build the volunteer and financial resources needed to care for and defend these special places far into the future.

FOR WILDLIFE
For years, the Phoenix area has been among the fastest-growing metro areas in the United States. While this growth brings exciting opportunities, it also poses an urgent threat to our precious desert and its wildlife.
Though the desert landscape may look formidable, it is very fragile. As we see more growth, bulldozers and concrete replace native desert habitats, destroying these delicate ecosystems and native plants – and forcing wildlife to flee into an ever-shrinking landscape.
We work tirelessly to protect critical wildlife habitats and corridors that countless desert species call home. Every acre we protect serves as a vital link in the complex web of desert life. From our smallest pollinators to apex predators like mountain lions, each species plays an essential role in maintaining the delicate balance of our desert environment.
By working with private landowners and local communities, DFLT has successfully protected nearly 1,100 acres including vital wildlife passages. As development pressure continues to mount our work becomes increasingly vital for protecting the rich biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert. Your support helps ensure that future generations will be able to experience the wonder of our desert wildlife heritage.

FOR PEOPLE
At Desert Foothills Land Trust we strive to connect people to our beautiful Sonoran Desert. People protect what they love, and they love what they know. Providing people the opportunity to connect to nature is not only vital to their health and wellbeing, but is a critical foundation to the success of our work - each shared connection is a reminder of the need to protect our Desert.
With your ongoing support, the Land Trust inspires thousands of people to get outside and explore nature. Children and adults of all ages delight in outdoor adventures and up-close animal encounters at our annual Desert Discovery Day. Whether new to the Valley or a lifelong resident, hundreds have learned more about the special place we call home through our Speaker Series and popular educational events. Our guided hikes and preserve tours fill to capacity every time they are offered, and hikers, bikers and equestrians have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of trails winding through Land Trust preserves.
But none of this is possible without you – our selfless landowners who generously conserve their properties, the passionate volunteers who are always there, the excited preserve visitors who share their experiences, the dedicated community members who help guide our work, and the amazing donors who contribute generously to protect the landscape you love.

FOREVER
When you walk our desert trails, you're walking in the footsteps of countless generations. Ancient rock art and remnants of pit houses whisper stories of those who cherished these lands before us. Now it's our turn to leave our mark by ensuring these wild places remain untouched forever.
At Desert Foothills Land Trust, we've made an unbreakable promise: the nearly 1,100 acres we've preserved will remain wild and free from development - not just for decades, but for all time. This is more than conservation; it's your chance to create a living legacy.
With your support, we can ensure that these special places around us will still be here for future generations to know and appreciate. Your gift will allow the Land Trust to pursue new land conservation opportunities, thoughtfully steward our protected lands, and continue connecting people to these special places.
We invite you to leave your legacy so future generations will be able to experience the joy of hearing the call of a coyote howling in the moonlight, the surprise of tasting saguaro fruit, or the wonder of seeing a petroglyph left by those who came before us. Together, we can ensure that the natural wonders we cherish today remain a gift for all who follow. For Wildlife. For People. Forever.
