It's bittersweet to share the news that after more than 14 wonderful years with Desert Foothills Land Trust, I will be transitioning to a new role as Project Manager with The Trust for Public Land in Ohio.
Leading DFLT has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life. Together with our dedicated team and board, we've nearly doubled our protected acreage, strengthened conservation throughout the Desert Foothills region, and educated thousands on the importance of our beloved Sonoran Desert.
I am especially grateful to the generous landowners who have entrusted DFLT with protecting their cherished properties, and to our amazing volunteers whose countless hours have been the backbone of DFLT's success. Your passion and dedication have made all the difference.
This move represents a return to my conservation roots in Ohio, where I began my career. The opportunity to work with TPL brings me closer to family while allowing me to continue the work I'm passionate about—connecting people to nature through community-centered conservation.
DFLT's future has never been brighter. With our talented staff, committed board, strong community partnerships, and the unwavering support of landowners and volunteers, the organization is poised for continued growth and impact.
I'm excited to watch DFLT's next chapter unfold as it continues its vital mission of preserving the irreplaceable landscapes of the Desert Foothills for generations to come. Remember – It’s not ours, it’s just our turn.
With profound gratitude for the privilege of serving this mission alongside you,
Vicki Preston,
President and CEO
