Nate’s love of the wilderness was forged by childhood summers spent canoe tripping in the Canadian wilderness at Camp Keewaydin. His capstone trip was an eight-week trip that concluded by arrival at the village of Winisk on Hudson Bay (after seeing no other humans for eight weeks, we were greeted by Winisk Indians and a polar bear). Nate finds the beautiful, open and unspoiled Sonoran Desert to be equally enchanting and so worthy of protecting and cherishing! By working and contributing to the Desert Foothills Land Trust, Nate hopes to ensure future generations can experience the wonders and joy of our magical desert habitat.
Nate was educated at Hamilton College and Duke University Business School (Fuqua). He worked in the packaging industry for Mobil Chemical, Tenneco, Pactiv, and Reynolds Consumer Products.
Nate and his family have been visiting Carefree since 1990 when his parents bought a home in the Boulders community. He and his wife moved to Carefree full time in 2017 to enjoy retirement. They are avid hikers and travelers.
Nate is especially thankful to those who have worked so hard and donated significant financial resources to the Desert Foothills Land Trust, and he wants to do his part to ensure the DFLT flourishes into the future!
