Brian was educated at Dartmouth College and Northwestern University School of Law. He practiced law in Madison, Wisconsin, for almost 50 years, concentrating on business litigation.

In Madison, Brian served on the County Board and the Regional Planning Commission. He was also the President of a conservation organization, the Friends of Pheasant Branch. In that capacity he led a campaign that raised $3 million in a compressed time frame to purchase a 19-acre addition to the Pheasant Branch Conservancy.

Brian believes in the mission of DFLT and is an enthusiastic supporter of its work.
