It's All About Water

hydration is key to staying healthy

  • Drink one or two cups of water or a sports drink before physical activity.

  • Limit caffeine and avoid alcohol prior to exercise - both cause dehydration.

  • In hot and dry environments drink at least one quart of fluid per hour.

  • Continue to hydrate after exercise to replenish fluid loss.

  • Consuming sodium and potassium rich foods such as bananas, citrus and tomato juice can help keep you hydrated.

  • Signs of dehydration include: low volume and dark urine, rapid heart rate, weakness, fatigue and dizziness.
