Excellence in Conservation

Desert Foothills Land Trust is your local Accredited Land Trust

As a nationally accredited land trust, we believe in building an organization that is here to stay…

In August 2016, Desert Foothills Land Trust earned renewal of national accreditation from the Land Trust Alliance’s Land Trust Accreditation Commission. This mark of excellence has been awarded to just over 400 of the nearly 1400 land trusts throughout the United States who consistently demonstrate an ongoing commitment to operating at the highest national standards.

Desert Foothills Land Trust Applying for Renewal of National Accreditation

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Desert Foothills Land Trust is pleased to announce it is applying for its second round of renewal for accreditation. A public comment period is now open.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. “We have a responsibility to our supporters, our partners and especially our protected lands to ensure that we operate under the highest standards and practices,” said Richard Burns, Desert Foothills Land Trust Board Chair.  We are honored to earn this badge of excellence and are confident that we will prove our commitment to high standards and improvement by achieving another round of approval from the Accreditation Commission. “

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Desert Foothills Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
