General Preserve Rules

General Preserve Rules are established to protect the natural, historical and archaeological features unique to each site.

  1. No hunting, fishing or collecting (Scientific collecting is allowed and must be approved by the DFLT. All appropriate state and federal permits must be available for inspection by DFLT staff.)

  2. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on DFLT preserves.

  3. Dogs must be leashed, please clean up after them. No pets are allowed on the Jewel of the Creek, or The Preserve at the Cave.  In consideration of all hike participants and for the safety of pets and wildlife, no pets are allowed on organized hikes.

  4. No loud noises.

  5. No target practice of any kind.

  6. Picnics are allowed on all preserves except the Jewel of the Creek.

  7. No camping.

  8. No fires.

  9. No smoking.

  10. Horses are welcome on all preserves except the Jewel of the Creek and the Cave.

  11. Mountain bikers are welcome on all preserves except the Jewel of the Creek, the Cave and Yucca Crossing.

  12. On preserves with water please keep out of the water. This includes people, dogs and horses. Native fish and amphibian species are very sensitive to habitat disturbance.
