Ranchitos Del Rey Preserve
 

Just upstream of Ocotillo Ridge Preserve lies DFLT’s newest preserve – Ranchitos del Rey. With lush stands of velvet mesquite, foothills palo verde and desert hackberry, this preserve extends the permanently protected area along Grapevine Wash to nearly one mile. A conservation easement on 23 acres within the floodplain of a major tributary to Cave Creek was a welcome donation made in 2005 by local real estate investor Jack A. Barrett.  DFLT will develop a management plan for the preserve that will include a hiking and equestrian trail linking with our downstream Ocotillo Ridge Preserve.
