DESERT DISCOVERY DAY
What a wonderful time we had at Desert Discovery Day on November 17, 2012! The weather was perfect and the smiles were wide for this free day of outdoor learning and adventure.
More than 200 people visited the remarkable Jewel of the Creek Preserve to learn about the natural and cultural heritage of our Sonoran Desert Foothills. With exhibits by other local nonprofits and many Desert Foothills Land Trust volunteers, children of all ages were able to explore the preserve and have a "passport" stamped at each station along the Harry Dalton Trail. Children then received a free goodie bag, and there were even free hot dogs, snacks and beverages.
Desert Foothills Land Trust is grateful to all who made Desert Discovery Day possible, including:
Gary Jones, Chair
Desert Foothills Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society
Rural/Metro Fire Department
Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
Town of Cave Creek
Wild At Heart
And the dozens of volunteers
who assisted with the event!
