Saturday, 8:00 a.m.  Birding Hike with Mike Rigney
Jewel of the Creek Preserve
This fairly easy walk will lead you through three distinct plant communities; Sonoran Desert Upland, Mesquite Bosque and Riparian. This property holds one of the last perennial streams in Maricopa County. The unusual year-round presence of water supports a myriad of plants and animals.

Saturday, 9:00 a.m.
P.A. Seitts Preserve at Go John Canyon
This moderate hike starts and the end of Surrey Road in Cave Creek and follows Legacy Trail through the saddle of the mountains and into PA Seitts Preserve at Go John Canyon. The trek continues up the Louis Menk Nature Trail to enjoy a vista from north to south along Cave Creek.

Saturday, 9:00 a.m.  Karin Epps & Paulette White
H.B. Wallace Preserve on Lone Mountain
This hike will lead you up the Eastern slope to the top of what is known by locals as Lone Mountain in Scottsdale. This 78 acre property is protected through a conservation easement which was a gift from H.B. and Jocelyn Wallace.

This is a birding hike led by local bird enthusiast, Mike Rigney. Please join us for a spring migration birding hike along New River. Birders and non-birders are welcome

Important Details
Descriptions of hikes are current as of January 2008 and are subject to adjustment because of weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Meet: Desert Foothills Land Trust parking lot bordering Cave Creek Road at Elbow Bend Road.  DFLT, 7518 E. Elbow Bend Rd.
Time: Varies. See schedule or call the office at 480-488-6131.
Duration: Arrive 15 minutes prior for sign in. Carpool to trailhead is usually under 30 minutes with return to DFLT parking lot by noon.
Gear: Hat, sunscreen, water and sturdy shoes/boots (no sandals)

Children: These hikes are not suitable for children under 12 years.
Pets: In consideration of all hike participants and for the safety of pets and wildlife, no pets are allowed on organized hikes.
Reservations: Hikes are limited to 20 hikers and are cancelled for rain. Email us or call 480-488-6131 for reservations.
