About The Desert Foothills
Land Trust
Incorporated
in 1991, the Desert Foothills Land Trust has evolved to become a
stable force for land preservation in the Sonoran Desert foothills
area of central Arizona. The abundance of unspoiled open desert is
the reason many people choose to live in the area. We believe that
the close proximity of the natural land and its treasure trove of
biological diversity immeasurably enhance the quality of our lives.
Therefore, to protect and preserve the incomparable Sonoran Desert,
the Cave Creek Improvement Association, supported by the Foothills
Community Foundation, established the Desert Foothills Land Trust.
We want to leave a legacy of natural lands for future desert
residents to enjoy and to provide a permanent safe haven for our
wildlife cohabiters. The Desert Foothills Land Trust provides a
unique opportunity to save an irreplaceable piece of the rapidly
diminishing natural world around us. Once land is
acquired by the Desert Foothills Land Trust, the Trust assumes
responsibility for the long-term management of the property. This
"management" means ensuring that the land remains forever in its
wild state, undisturbed and undeveloped, for the pleasure and
enjoyment of area residents and visitors today and tomorrow. The 25
member, volunteer Board of Directors operates the Trust with both
immediate needs and opportunities and a long-range vision of Trust
holdings.
Mission Statement
The Desert Foothills Land Trust works with communities and partners
to protect, preserve and steward sensitive lands and species for the
survival of the fragile Sonoran Desert.
Vision Statement
The Desert Foothills Land Trust will be recognized as an effective
force for preserving natural lands and sensitive sites and species
within our targeted areas.
